UMANT Lunch & Learn
The Invisible Skills: How Soft Skills, Executive Functioning, and Confidence Shape Your City Management Career
Join UMANT on Thursday, October 29, from 12:00–1:30 p.m. for interactive Lunch and Learn with leadership coach and former UMANT president Kellye Mazzoli as she pulls back the curtain on the skills that actually accelerate careers in city management - the ones rarely taught in MPA programs or onboarding manuals. We will explore the difference between confidence and self-confidence, why executive functioning is the hidden engine of high-performing leaders, and how emotional regulation separates good managers from great ones.
Designed specifically for UMANT members and timed with the fall committee volunteer push, this session is part pep talk, part practical toolkit, and part love letter to UMANT as the friendly sandbox where you can practice leadership, try new things, and even fail - without career-threatening consequences. Whether you are a brand-new assistant or eyeing your first department head role, you will leave with actionable strategies to strengthen the invisible skills that make you indispensable.
This session will be offered virtually to provide flexible attendance for members across the region.
